The concept of sun and stars in the poetry of Majid Amjad

Abstract

Majeed Amjad is one of those great Urdu poets of the 20th century who experimented in poetry especially nazm. If on the one hand his poetry possesses his scientific consciousness, on the other his poetry profusely draws on mythological symbols. One among them is ‘sun’ where he has seamlessly merged both scientific as well as mythological connotations.  However, the mythological concept of the sun is predominant thus strong.
