The Need And Importance Of Translations Of Kalam Rehman Baba

Abstract

The great Pashto Sufi poet Rehman Baba was born in a wealthy Pashtun family of his time. There is not much detail about  initial circumstances. However, it is said that he was a contemporary of Khushal Khattak. His original name was Abdul Rahman but he became known as Rahman Baba. He belonged to Ghoria Khel, a branch of the Mohmand tribe, his father's name was Grami Abdul Sattar who, according to a tradition, was a wealthy khan of his area who lived in Bahadur Kali. The village is situated about five miles south of Peshawar on the road leading to Ko Haat. Rehman Baba was born around 1042 Hijri  according to 1632 AD in Bahadur Kali near Peshawar. He studied Sufism and Jurisprudence from Mulla Muhammad Yusufzai, then went to Kohat and studied with various scholars there. He was inclined towards zahaduriyazt from his youth and was indifferent to the world and the people of the world from the beginning. Abdul Rahman in his youth He was inclined towards Faqiri and Sufism. Received religious knowledge. That is why this son of Bige Khan was found and called Sufi. He was a great scholar of Islamic teachings and a pious person, that is the reason why he was respected by the Pashtuns and because of this respect, he is remembered as "Baba".
