The present study aimed to describe the lived experiences of school teachers while designing technology-enhanced learning in classroom settings. The researchers adopted a phenomenological qualitative design and followed an interpretivist paradigm while completing this study. The paper provides an in-depth understanding of teachers’ perceptions of designing instruction, using technology, and facing barriers while completing the process. The study was conducted among 18 school teachers who had significant experience using technological tools for pedagogical purposes. The participants were recruited through purposive criterion sampling from both public and private organizations in Lahore, Punjab. The data were collected via semi-structured interviews and transcribed verbatim. In the analytical phase, the authors used reflective thematic analysis, which allowed them to extract the main ideas and generate themes. The final document includes five themes, namely, pedagogy-first instructional planning, purposeful and limited technology use, patterns of student engagement, institutional support as a limiting factor, and professional learning outside formal settings. The findings demonstrated that developing technology-based courses depends primarily on teachers’ pedagogical knowledge, professional skills, motivation, and engagement rather than the availability of resources. The participants reported multiple challenges associated with limited professional learning, time, and institutional support. Therefore, the current research contributes to addressing the gaps in the literature on instructional design and technology by providing practical recommendations for teacher educators, designers, and policymakers.
